Mustangs Can Be Fancy - Mustang Demonstrations with Elisa Wallace

In 2012, Three-Day Eventer Elisa Wallace took a chance and entered an Extreme Mustang Makeover Competition. Tasked with training a randomly selected wild mustang in just 120 days, Elsa drew the mustang, Fledge, a 14hd (3 year old at the time) gelding captured from the Maverick-Medicine Herd in Nevada. She named Fledge after the winged horse in the C.S. Lewis book, "The Magician's Nephew". Elisa and Fledge ended up winning the South Carolina Extreme Mustang Makeover and also won the hearts of horse enthusiasts around the country with their heartfelt freestyle performance that showed the amazing bond between horse and human.

Thanks to Fledge, Elisa has fallen in love with the compelling magic of the Mustangs and is dedicated to showing the athleticism and talent of these horses that are typically known as range rats or underdogs. In 2013, she adopted another incredible Mustang, Rune, a 15.1 gelding captured from the East Douglas/Piceance herd in Colorado. Rune was named for the definition meaning a letter of mysterious or magic significance. Rune and Elisa competed in a competition named the Mustang Million Makeover. A competition with $1 million in prize money and finished 30th out of 200 competitors in Fort Worth, Texas. Rune has also competed successfuly to the training level in Eventing.

Again, in 2015, she adopted an incredible Mustang, Hwin, a 14.3 mare, captured from the Adobe Town herd in Wyoming, and named after the talking mare in C.S. Lewis' book, "A Horse and His Boy". Hwin finished 4th in the Extreme Mustang Magic Makeover and has competed up to Preliminary level in Eventing. Hwin is also now immortalized as a Breyer horse model.

Elisa's ultimate goal is to show how amazing these Mustangs are byhopefully competing them in Eventing and increasing awareness about adopting the 50,000 Mustangs that are in BLM holding facilities. Both Rune and Fledge have done numerous demonstrations around the country, including the Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event in Lexington, Kentucky, invited to WEG (cancelled due to hurricane), WEF show jumping in Wellington, FL as well as Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, FL.
