COMPETITOR INFORMATION AND FORMS
The 2020 Ocala Jockey Club International 3-Day Event is back for the 5th time. The 2020 Event serves as a qualifying event for the rescheduled 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games! As well, the 2020 and 2021 Event serve as the CCI4*-L National Championships!
The four editions of the Event have attracted top level riders such as Rio 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist (individual) Phillip Dutton, Rio 2016 Olympics Gold Medalist (team) and Silver Medalist (individual) Astier Nicolas from France, as well as other Olympians Boyd Martin, Clayton Fredericks, Leslie Law, Lynn Symansky and other elite eventers. When asked in an interview by Eventing Nation about OJC, Astier Nicolas replied, "This is a great venue; I am amazed. I came here during November from Europe, so it's great to be here in the USA with the sunshine. There's a lot of room here and there's some great galloping courses. The event looks like a success. I hear everyone praising it."
Clayton Fredericks is back to design all the courses for the 2019 Event. Acclaimed Olympic cross-country designer Mike Etherington-Smith is back as Assistant Cross-Country Designer for the CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S courses. The cross-country builder/artist Tyson Rementer and his crew will be back to build the courses. Chris Bernard designs the show jumping courses. All courses have received rave reviews in all the first three editions of the Ocala Jockey Club Event for the traditional galloping courses reminiscent of the English rolling hill countryside. The courses were described as tough and fair, with technically challenging questions such as the water cascade jump by the clubhouse pond.
