Meet the Competitors

Jennie brought the idea of 3-Day Eventing competitions to the Ocala Jockey Club. Cambalda galloped the Ocala Jockey Club hills before anyone else did.

Liz is a unique sportswoman, an international 4* eventing rider, as well as a professional racing driver in sportscar and GT endurance disciplines, and a TV broadcaster. Fernhill By Night and Liz have won 5 international events together.

Cary Chavis is a dentist with his own dental practice who rides an unraced Thoroughbred he bought as a 5-year old. He trains with Erin Sylvester in PA and has been moving up the levels with her guidance. This is their first 3*.

This horse and rider combination brought home the Individual Bronze Medal from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. We are thrilled to welcome them at the Ocala Jockey Club International 3-Day Event!

When Melissa found this horse as a 6-year old off-track Thoroughbred, it took her 20 minutes to go from canter to a trot in the first ride. Since then, they have become the 2016 Area 3 Intermediate Champion and to earn other top awards.

Tag is Erin's 12 year off-track Thoroughbred. Having last raced in July 2103, he went to a hunter pace and loved his new job. Whatever he has been asked, he has answered. They are moving up the levels, with immense mutual trust.

Katie is a veteran 4* rider. Katie and Houdini have been together for 10 years. They have won many top 5 awards at the Advanced and 3* levels. They won the 2nd place prize in the 2016 CIC3* OJC 3-Day Event Thoroughbred Awards.

"Will" has just stepped up to the 3* after many successful season at IM and 2*. He was produced to the 1* level by his owner,  Makenzie Spaes. Wil loves having his ears rubbed and is terrified of people with cameras.

The winners of the CCI2* of the 2016 Ocala Jockey Club International 3-Day Event are back in the higher level this year.

Shelby and Crimson won 2015 bronze 1* NAJYRC and 2016 Gold NAYRC 2*. Shelby is from Alberta, Canada, but based in FL. This will be their first 3*.

Vermiculus, aka "Bug", is owned by Jaqueline Mars. He was bought as a 3-year old and is a half brother to Lauren's Young Rider horse and first Rolex KY horse. Bug was an alternate to the 2015 Pan Am team and did Rolex KY 2017.
